KC Kids Connections finds its beginnings in 2004 when Christine and Rick Burckholder, owners of Kids Coutnry, adopted their twin daughters, Grace and Isabella, from Guatemala. Chris shares the next part of their story:
“It was such a relief to get the girls home and begin our lives together. The adoption process was lengthy but we took it step-by-step and had help along the way from some very special people. Seeing the conditions that our girls were living in simply broke my heart and I knew I had to do something to help others who wanted nothing more than to have a child of their own. Many friends and acquaintances commented to us that they would love to adopt a child who needed nothing more than a mommy and a daddy and a home to call their own but the financial burden was simply too much for them to bear.”
In 2005 the Burkholders formed KC Kids Connections. KC Kids Connections is partially funded through the dance and sports classes, keyboard lessons and photography offered through Educare, another “wing” of Kids Country. KC Kids Connections is a 501C3 foundation with its sole purpose to improve the lives of children throughout the world.
